Eric Pfeifer

Actor / Host / Voice Actor / Narrator

~ To Be Read in the Voice of James Lipton ~

Pfeifer, Eric G., son of David, was born and raised in a small town between Dallas and Waco, …North Carolina. The youngest of three brothers, he became accustomed to entertaining at an early age. From playing the role of various Klingons, Romulans, Earthlings, and Gorns in numerous productions of the latest Star Trek episode at Eric’s Subterranean Playhouse (i.e. David Pfeifer’s basement); to impressions of John Byner’s impression of John Wayne at Eric’s Poor Man’s Ed Sullivan Show (i.e. David Pfeifer’s living room - usually during the real Ed Sullivan Show); Eric excelled at character development, eventually landing the roles of Redshirt #2, Chekov, Sulu, and even Uhura - when his cousin Renee was on hiatus.

Eric went on to play the role of Student at the local Public Institute of Utter Nonsense and was modestly successful, after which he got the part of Jeweler, which he played for two years before earning a place as Student in the cast at University. He was then cast in the same role at Graduate School. There, he focused on writing original material - but not too original, because that would have been considered “heresy” - and auditioned for the lead role of Minister at several mid-sized venues across the Carolinas. He finally landed the part and played it for seven and a half years. All the while he honed his craft, performing monologues three to four times a week before live audiences.

Following that experience, Eric had a four year stint playing Teacher/Counselor for an audience of middle school students at the local Private Institute of Utter Nonsense. Leaving that gig with his sanity intact, Eric again landed the role of Jeweler, an experience which came in handy when he got his first commercial acting job playing, of all things,
Jeweler #2. Eric left that role for a more challenging part when he was cast as Customer/Technical Support Genius at the local Cable Company, the hub of show business, where he regaled his audience with horrible impressions of Hank Hill, William Shatner, Don Knotts, Morgan Freeman, and Bruce the performance artist…“Oh, noooo!” He also provided voice over services for radio and television commercials for the company in his natural, cultured southern accent.

Music has long been an important part of who Eric Pfeifer is. He’s played drums, guitar, and bass in several bands, and loves to write lyrics and original compositions. Performing in front of a live audience is a motivating factor, not a fear factor for Eric. Being an appreciator of the history of music, he has traveled to New York City, Nashville, Memphis, Muscle Shoals, and Liverpool to drink in the essence of those iconic locations. For their thirtieth anniversary, Eric took his wife to Paul McCartney’s old house in Liverpool just to see her standing there in the exact spot where “I Saw Her Standing There” was written. To him, it was worth every minute of the eight hour flights there and back with his 6’ 5” frame crammed into a tiny Delta coach seat.

Eric began studying acting at The Actor’s Lab in Charlotte, now the (Pat) Dortch Acting Studio. He has enrolled and studied with, among others, Jason Alexander, Michael Kostroff, Arvold-Warner Studio, Second City, Scott Sedita, Bryan Pierce, J. D. Lewis, V. O. Heroes, and The Actor’s Growth Lab. Prior to studying acting, Eric studied the business of show business with the late Bob Fraser (Show Runner, ‘Benson’).

Among Eric’s credits are the films ‘The Mutt’, ‘No Luck, Pure Speed', and Happy People’; on television in the limited series ‘No Rest for the Wicked’ and TV movie ‘For the Love of Lily; and in numerous commercials and industrials. Eric becomes the character he’s portraying, a trait embodied by the motto of his home state, North Carolina: Esse Quam Videri - To Be, Rather Than to Seem.

Eric Pfeifer is southern, but not country; educated, but not condescending; large, but not threatening. An erudite southern gentleman, Eric is a pleasure to know and to work with. He is the epitome of the “sage/mentor” character, and offers an intelligent, analytical presence to your project. An affable, kind man, he exudes compassion and friendship to those around him. An honest, serious businessman, he brings a collaborative profit-minded attention to all he does. His devotion to telling his part of your story, selling your product, being the voice of your brand, narrating your project, or hosting your show is wholehearted. After all, his commitment to his colleagues, his producers, and his craft was codified long ago in his dad’s basement when he first stuck a toy top in his ear and said: “Hailing frequencies open, sir!”
